Jawaharlal Nehru, the former Prime Minister of India founded the National Institute of Technology at Warangal in 1959. Previously it was known as Regional Engineering College. It is the first amongst the 30 NITs established in the country. The Institute provides seminar halls, Mega Computer Centre, auditorium, Indoor Games Complex, Central Library, stadium, student activity centre and about 100 laboratories.
It offers eight undergraduate programmes in different disciplines of engineering. It provides about 29 postgraduate programmes in business administration, computer application, sciences and engineering. The institute also offers Ph.D. programmes in management, engineering, humanities, sciences and physical education.
